Nitrokey and daten-strom.Medical-IT-Services GmbH will be working more closely together in the future to explore potential applications of modern IT security solutions in outpatient healthcare. A first glimpse into this collaboration will be provided at the Ä26 Congress of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy, taking place October 7–10, 2026, at the World Conference Center Bonn. There, daten-strom will present selected Nitrokey solutions in the context of secure practice IT.

Medical and psychotherapy practices process highly sensitive health and patient data on a daily basis. As digitization and networking increase, so do the demands on cybersecurity, data protection, and information security.

At Ä26—the conference of the North Rhine-Westphalia Academy—daten-strom will present selected Nitrokey technologies and potential application scenarios for outpatient healthcare.

Nitrokey itself will not be represented by its own staff at the conference. daten-strom, as a specialized IT solutions partner for outpatient healthcare, will handle the presentation and technical evaluation of the selected solutions. This will allow interested physicians not only to familiarize themselves with the technologies but, above all, to learn for which specific security requirements within a practice these solutions may be particularly useful.

Taking a Holistic Approach to Cybersecurity and Prevention

daten-strom will be represented at Ä26 alongside the Cologne Police as part of their existing collaboration on cybercrime prevention. The focus will be on cybersecurity, data protection, and information security in medical practices. Selected Nitrokey technologies will complement this approach with practical examples of technical protective measures. The Cologne Police is daten-strom’s partner in the area of cybercrime prevention. daten-strom will present and evaluate the Nitrokey solutions.

This brings together various aspects of modern cybersecurity: prevention and awareness on the one hand, and technical and organizational protective measures on the other. After all, effective cybersecurity in medical facilities cannot be achieved with a single product. The key lies in the interplay of appropriate technology, secure organizational structures, and an aware workforce.

Collaboration Beyond the Conference

The Ä26 represents the first visible step in the collaboration between Nitrokey and daten-strom in the outpatient healthcare sector. The goal is to combine practical experience from real-world use and consulting with medical facilities with the development of modern security technologies. Based on this, the aim is to evaluate which solutions prove effective under the specific conditions of medical and psychotherapy practices and how they can become an integral part of comprehensive security concepts.
