OpenPGP is an open standard to encrypt, decrypt and sign documents, files and emails, which is mostly used with GnuPG. Storing cryptographic keys on a smart card such as the OpenPGP Card enables users to securely and conveniently use the same key across multiple devices. In case the device is lost, cryptographic keys remain securely in the device and can't be extracted.

Nitrokey 3A Mini As planned, all pre-orders have been shipped and the Nitrokey 3A Mini is finally "in stock" and therefore immediately available for future orders. Nitrokey 3A NFC As announced in the last status update, production of the Nitrokey 3A NFC is underway. To optimize the failure rate, we plan to produce the electronics in several steps, so it will take a few days to complete the entire production. Nevertheless, we plan to start shipping shortly.

Our development of the OpenPGP Card application for the Nitrokey 3 is beginning to bear fruit. GnuPG successfully recognizes the Nitrokey 3 as an OpenPGP Card (development version of the firmware required). Key operations are not yet possible. Now we focus on the support of a first elliptic curve. We will report on further progress here in the coming weeks.

Good news: We are happy to announce that today we have started the beta phase for the Nitrokey 3 Mini! This is a very important step for us for many reasons and accordingly we want to tell you more about it.
